SUMMER GARDEN (the restaurant at La Chartreuse)
The summer garden becomes the summer restaurant as of the month of May – a lovely example of contemporary use of ancient spaces. The summer restaurant is a popular place to meet and dine during the warm weather months, and fills the garden space of two former monks’ cells. When these gardens were restored, emphasis was given to the existing plants some of which were hundreds of years old.
Elderberry: In Greek mythology, the fruit of the elderberry bushes was the food of the gods. Elderberries are used to make liqueurs, jams and sherbet.
