THE RESTAURANT “SUMMER GARDENS”

The remains of a residential palace and the freshness of monk'gardens

You get to the restaurant by crossing the cloister of St John’s fountain, built in the late fourteenth century on the foundations of the first palace of Cardinal Etienne d'Aubert , the future Innocent the VIth. The entrance is overhung by an inside trefoil window of the former palace. The restaurant is situated on three gardens including the site of a whole cell with its private garden. The Chartreuse is in constant restoration : ceramics have been found in recent excavations , precious indications on the decorations of the time.
From its terrace the restaurant overlooks the brothers’courtyard, dated from the seventeenth, housing in its lower part the service areas (wood-stock, wine cellar, drugstore, blacksmith, stables, kitchen).
Its wonderful view on the roofs of the town makes it the ideal place to dine under the stars.
